 |
| Step
by step to the future |
 |
| In 1943,
during World War II, the dentist Walter Hubschmid began to develop
and manufacture diamond burs despite the predominant lack of raw materials.
This initiative laid the foundations of an exemplary company story. |
 |
| Walter
Hubschmid's practical experience and strong personality led to the
creation of dental diamond instruments, whose quality was immediately
recognised. When his son Rino joined the company in 1958, the company,
meanwhile renamed Walter Hubschmid & Sohn, extended its activities
world-wide. |
 |
| In 1965,
after the move to Lugano Viganello, the co-operation with the Swiss
universities became closer. The consequent practical implementation
of the ideas and concepts of the academic departments resulted in
the development of a well-balanced programme of diamond burs under
the name Intensiv. The always emphasised attention to quality allowed
then Intensiv SA Swiss Dental Products, as the company is nowadays
called, to gain world-wide recognition. |
 |
| Another
important step forward was the building of the present premises in
Lugano Grancia, where the company moved to in January 1999. |
 |
| In November
2004 Mr Rino Hubschmid decided to sell the company to Mr Beat von
Weissenfluh and Mr Günter Smailus who have been working successfully
in the dental industry for many years. The transactions necessary
to implement the agreed change of ownership were completed in January
2005. |
 |
| These
succession arrangements lead Intensiv into a new phase of its corporate
history. The new management will build the company's future on its
extraordinarily strong position with dentists as well as university
dental clinics and on its excellent performance up to date. |
